Liverpool are reportedly not yet active in the race to sign Morgan Rogers, despite a long-standing appreciation for the Aston Villa man.The Reds are expected to strengthen their attack once again this summer, and there have been suggestions that Rogers could be coming onto their radar. But according to journalist Ben Jacobs, though Liverpool should not be completely counted out of the race before it has even started, the Reds moving for a player such as RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande is more likely as things stand. Who’s Liverpool’s best forward in the Premier League era?

There could even be some movement before the World Cup.”Photo by Mike Morese/MI News/NurPhoto via Getty ImagesREAD MORE: Liverpool and Chelsea among Premier League teams aiming to sign Eirik GranaasCould Liverpool sign Rogers as well as a winger?Although signing a player with the pace, power and raw potential of Diomande is inarguably more of a must for Liverpool than adding someone like Rogers to the squad, supporters would no doubt love to see both wearing red next season.Sadly, given the expected cost of the two players, it is extremely difficult to see that happening.Jacobs has put several big Premier League clubs – as well as Paris Saint-Germain – into the mix to sign Rogers this summer, and it seems that if Liverpool do not push to get him in 2026, they will miss their opportunity entirely.Given his skillset, there is the potential that Rogers could play out wide akin to what we’ve seen from Florian Wirtz this season.

But that has not especially worked for Liverpool, and while it will be a shame to see Rogers head elsewhere, Liverpool sound to have their priorities right for now. Join Our NewsletterReceive a digest of our best Liverpool content each week direct to your mailbox
