Having been knocked out of the FA Cup and having victory snatched away from them at the last moment against Everton, Liverpool could arrive into Sunday’s match with just four points between themselves and Arsenal.

Dropping points against Wolves could really halt momentum and with Aston Villa, Man City and Newcastle all on the horizon, Liverpool will not want to be dropping points at home.

One man who will be trying to stop the Reds from securing victory is midfielder Andre Trindade, who could have been playing for the home side had he made a different decision in 2023.

Having missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea during the summer of 2023, Liverpool turned their attention to Andre.

The Reds would decide to push for the midfielder and made their move, only for the Brazilian star to turn down their offer.

“It was a really hard decision, I think that if I’ve accepted that offer, I don’t know if I’d feel 100% comfortable with myself, because I gave my word to Diniz, and he values the word a lot, the honesty.”

This is a very admirable decision Andre made and it says a lot about his character, which will bode well for the midfielder in the future.

Arne Slot is still on the lookout for a number six heading into the summer transfer window and seeing as Liverpool missed out on Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, could Andre be an option?

Andre moved to Wolves last summer as part of a £21m deal with Fluminense as the Brazilian midfielder opted for a change away from Brazil.

The 23-year-old’s decision to turn down a move to Liverpool has worked out for him as he has since won the Copa Libertadores and secured a move to Europe, where he has been a big part of the current Wolves team.

Liverpool were linked with Andre again before he completed his move to Wolves this summer, which shows that the Reds retained their interest in the player.

Having racked up experience in the Premier League, the Brazilian could still be an option for the Reds heading into the summer as the Merseyside club hope to add a number six to their squad.

Slot will get a closer look at the 23-year-old on Sunday and a solid performance from the Wolves star could see him become Ryan Gravenberch‘s deputy for the 2025/26 campaign.
