Liverpool have been handed a potential boost in their attempt to sign one of their summer targets.
The Reds will be busy in the summer, with new signings expected in key areas, including left-back, centre-forward and defence.
The uncertainty around the futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also means that the summer could be busier than expected.
Liverpool already have plans to sign a defender and a striker, but their plans for the right-back position are dependent on what happens with Alexander-Arnold.
Should the Liverpool vice-captain depart for Real Madrid, Liverpool will have to sign a replacement or competition for Conor Bradley.
The transfer rumour mill has brought up a few names as possible options for cover in that position, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong one of the players that have been linked to an Anfield switch for a long time now.
The Dutch international was linked with a move to Liverpool last summer.
He reportedly has a €40 million release clause, which is relatively affordable for the Reds.
Liverpool’s chances of signing him has seemingly received a huge boost after the latest report from Germany.
According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the 23-year-old is keen on leaving Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
“Jeremie Frimpong is ready for the next step and is planning a move in summer,” the Sky reporter wrote on X.
“Spain and England are two concrete options for him.
The 24-y/o right wing-back can leave Leverkusen for around €40 million in summer.”
Frimpong is known for his attacking prowess and versatility, capable of playing anywhere on the right flank.
His addition to Liverpool’s squad would not only bolster their defensive options but also add a new dimension to their attacking play.
The Dutch international was previously quizzed on Liverpool links back in February, saying:
“Liverpool.
Who knows what the future will bring.”
