Liverpool look set to make some changes to their forward line this summer as a new dawn arrives at Anfield.
The Reds are virtually certain to head into the 2025/26 season as Premier League winners but there’s a feeling they can improve even further.
One way of doing that is by beefing up a front line which has often been too heavily reliant on the goals of Mohamed Salah.
Darwin Nunez is likely to leave, with rumours developing that Luis Diaz could follow his South American teammate out of Liverpool as well.
Should Diaz depart, Liverpool are likely to need a left-sided addition.
And while there are a great many options out there to choose from, the Reds should be excited by what Lyon wonderkid Malick Fofana is showing.
Fofana has 11 goals and five assists in 38 appearances this season, with the latest of those contributions coming with a special effort against Rennes on Saturday.

Before we get to Fofana’s wonderstrike against Rennes, it’s worth pointing out that the 20-year-old’s agent has already talked up a move to Liverpool.
Speaking to Africa Foot in March, Bobo Fofana, Malick’s representative, admitted that his client’s dream transfer would be to join the Reds.

“The choice of heart would be Liverpool,” said Fofana.
“He has the potential to enter the rotation, and outbreak out, we would like to see him succeed African legends such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Elhadj Diouf.”
Africa Foot go on to claim that Lyon would be looking for around £43m to sell Fofana, and judging by his strike on Saturday, he may well be worth it.

Cutting in to the Rennes penalty area from the left wing, Fofana chops back and heads back towards the edge of the box.
The Belgium international then whips the ball right-footed perfectly into the top, far corner of the Rennes goal.
A stunning effort from a really exciting young prospect.
Aside from Fofana’s agent talking up a move to Anfield, there are yet to be any concrete reports of interest from Liverpool.

However, if he continues in this vein, it’s hard to see why he would not be on the Reds’ radar.
Perhaps the most interesting thing to note about Fofana is that he is decidedly two-footed.
His left foot tends to be his most dominant, but the goal at Rennes, for example, was a beauty hit with his right.
Fofana has been almost exclusively used on the left of the Lyon attack this season, but from a Liverpool point of view he could also be played as an inverted winger on the right.
As Liverpool begin to build their post-Salah plan, someone like Fofana may be an ideal candidate.
