Darwin Nùñez’s Liverpool career could be on the brink of collapse.
The Uruguayan’s twenty-four minute substitute cameo against Aston Villa highlighted even more reasoning as to why it is very likely that he will part ways with the club this summer.
The forward even deleted a social media post that expressed guilt, following the miss of an open goal,:and felt determined to continue fighting in a Liverpool shirt.
This season, Arne Slot was determined to try and get a tune out of Nùñez following Jurgen Klopp’s failure to do so, but it has not went the way that both parties would’ve hoped with just seven starts from thirty-five matches in all competitions.
Liverpool’s record signing is well into his third season and with just six goals so far, it seems that beyond this campaign, N?ñez’s future will lie away from Anfield.
Ahead of what feels the inevitable, we have selected five clubs that Darwin Nùñez could join come the end of the season.
AL NASSR
Saudi Pro-League side, Al Nassr, is the likeliest destination for Darwin Nùñez, meaning he could link-up with former Liverpool man, Sadio Mane.
It has been well reported that there had been multiple discussions between the club and player, with Nùñez ready to move in January, but the switch was blocked by Liverpool as they would be an attacker short mid-season, without having the time to find a suitable replacement.
Al Nassr also fell way below Liverpool’s asking price for the Saudi’s first-choice.
Instead, the Saudi-club were diverted in the direction of Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, for a huge sum of £64m plus bonuses.
Jhon Duran was the alternative to Darwin Nùñez.

They remain determined to sign Nùñez despite capturing Duran and it is likely that they arrive at Liverpool’s door once more this summer.
AL HILAL
Another Saudi side whom seem interested in Nùñez are Al-Hilal.
Following the recent sale of Neymar back to hometown club, Santos, the talk has been of finding a superstar replacement.
Al-Hilal also remain keen on Mohamed Salah’s services, with his Liverpool contract set to run out in just short of four months, but Nùñez seems the more realistic route.
Salah has expressed a desire to remain at the highest level of the game for many more years and currently does not see the Saudi Pro League as a viable option.
As for their high demand for Nùñez, Al-Hilal submitted a huge verbal bid of £70m before the January deadline, that Liverpool immediately rebuffed, affirming their stance that he was not for sale mid-season.
NEWCASTLE UNITED
Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is a name that has been heavily floated around Liverpool circles in recent weeks and Darwin Nùñez could be sent in the opposite direction, if the two clubs were to negotiate any deal.
A price tag north of £150m is Newcastle’s valuation of their striker, but could be forced to sell for £100m, if UEFA Champions League football cannot be achieved for next season and Isak’s sale would help the club stay between the financial constraints of PSR.

If Nunez would depart for another Premier League side, being involved in a cash-plus-player deal could be a good move for both parties.

The Uruguayan will also have the option of staying in Europe with Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, keen to bolster his attack.
Atleti even went as far as sending scouts to watch the Uruguayan in Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League trip to Girona in December and a switch to La Liga could reignite his scoring powers.
The Spanish club have held interest since his Benfica days.
AC MILANCredit: AC Milan
Darwin Nùñez also has suitors in Italy with AC Milan declaring interest in recent months.
The Rossoneri set their sights on the forward ahead of a January move, and even went as far as submitting a loan offer of £5m, with an obligation to buy for £45m, falling considerably short of Liverpool’s valuation.
But, Milan did manage to secure the signing of Santiago Gimenez, a previous player of Arne Slot at Feyenoord, so a forward may not be on their list of priorities in the future.
As Darwin Nùñez’s Liverpool future hangs by a thread, it is very likely that Saudi Arabia will turn out to be his destination come the summer window.
Both Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr have the funds to meet Liverpool’s £85m asking price, and they’ll hope to recoup the exact fee that was paid to Benfica in 2022.
