Liverpool could be on the lookout for a goal-scoring midfielder this summer as they target areas for improvement under Arne Slot.
With the Reds on course to win the Premier League in Slot’s first season, there may be an argument from some that it can hardly get better.
However, the Liverpool head coach has already suggested that change is coming, with a busy summer ahead at Anfield.
There are certainly other positions in the Liverpool squad which should be higher up the list of priorities right now, but if they can, adding a goal-scoring midfielder would benefit the Reds.
Xavi Simons has been heavily linked, while there have also been rumours Rayan Cherki is on Liverpool’s list for the summer.
But as they scour Europe for attacking midfielders capable of finding the net, Liverpool should not overlook Athletic Bilbao’s Oihan Sancet.
And, as it turns out, Sancet may already be a Red himself.

Sancet has been in scintillating form for Athletic this season.
He may have only started 17 La Liga games, but he’s bagged himself 15 goals.
That has stretched to 17 in all competitions, with the 24-year-old finding the net against Rangers during Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final.

The final of this year’s competition will be held in Bilbao, handing Athletic extra incentive to lift the trophy in-front of their own fans.
And after Sancet helped them move one step closer to doing exactly that, a tattoo revealing the famous Liverpool slogan ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ was spotted on his right forearm.

The tattoo brought back memories of 2007, when Fernando Torres was spotted wearing a YNWA armband while captaining Atletico Madrid.
Torres was soon on his way to Anfield, where he became an instant hit with supporters.
Could Sancet be about to do the same?
Of course, Liverpool are not the only club in the world who sing You’ll Never Walk Alone, but they are the team most associated with it.
Given Sancet has gone as far as tattooing the phrase on his arm, it may well be that the Basque has a predilection for Liverpool.
And as we think Slot could do with adding some more goal-threat to his midfield, we’d be all for Sancet rocking up at Anfield this summer.
However, he certainly wouldn’t come cheap.
Athletic value their players incredibly highly, and Sancet is no different.
The Spain international has a release clause of £68.5m in his contract.
As a result of the high price and the need for additions in other areas, we’d be surprised to see Liverpool target Sancet this summer.
