Liverpool cruised to a second consecutive 2-0 win in the Premier League after sweeping Newcastle aside on Wednesday.
The Reds knew they could take another step towards the league title by beating Eddie Howe’s team at Anfield.
Matters were helped by news of Arsenal drawing 0-0 away to Nottingham Forest in a game which kicked off 45 minutes before Liverpool’s.
But, unwilling to rely on the Gunners result, Liverpool hit the front early on at Anfield.
After just 11 minutes, they were 1-0 up.
Just as he did against Manchester City at the weekend, Dominik Szoboszlai scored a well-placed left-footed effort.
And according to pundit Ally McCoist, that was the beginning of what turned into another ‘outstanding’ performance from Szoboszlai.

Szoboszlai was praised after the City game having really made an impact in the final third.
And with his confidence clearly up, the Hungarian started in a similar vein against Newcastle on Wednesday.

McCoist enjoyed Szoboszlai’s opener, with the 24-year-old doing well to shake off Sandro Tonali’s attention to fire Liverpool ahead.
So, when asked to name his man of the match by TNT Sports, it was not a surprise to hear the former Scotland international pick Liverpool’s No.8.

“I just think in the middle of park Dominik Szoboszlai has been absolutely outstanding, I really do,” raved McCoist.
“He’s been terrific.”
“Obviously he started the game really well, his contribution in attack but also in defence.
What an evening he’s had.”
As well as putting Liverpool one goal up on the night, Szoboszai’s effort was the Reds 100th of what has been an amazing season.
Arne Slot’s team look destined to go on and win the Premier League in May, and have done so by consistently blitzing the opposition.
Once again they scored twice at Anfield, with the century now reached across all competitions.
Given that Liverpool have a minimum of 13 games to play this season, they are certain to add a healthy number on top of that.
After what we’ve seen over the last two games, Szoboszlai feels sure to get a couple of them.
