Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has called Mohamed Salah a Premier League 'icon'(Image: Serena Taylor/Newcastle United via Getty Images)
Former England captain Alan Shearer says he "would be amazed" if Liverpool don't find a solution to extend Mohamed Salah's Anfield contract.
And the Premier League's all-time leading scorer has credited Arne Slot for guiding the Reds to a 13-point lead without any major summer signings.
Salah is the division's leading scorer this term with 25 and his performances have inspired Liverpool to the status of overwhelming favourites to land a second title in five years at Anfield.
The Egypt international's performances have seen him spoken about as a potential Ballon d'Or winner this year and Shearer thinks the Reds will be able to tie down their top scorer to a new deal before he walks away as a free agent at the end of the campaign.

“I think without a doubt that this is the best version of Mo Salah we've seen," Shearer says, speaking to Betfair.
"I said earlier in the season that we should see what happens in terms of a 1% drop in his levels due to his contract situation; but that hasn't happened, on the contrary he seems to be getting even better and stronger as the season goes on.
“There's still no word on his contract situation, but I'd be amazed if Liverpool don't sort something out to keep him at least for another year or two.
Losing Mo Salah would be huge for Liverpool and the Premier League, because he's an iconic player.
“Everything he's doing right now seems to result in either a goal or an assist.
He is an icon of the Premier League, no doubt about it.”
Shearer, a Newcastle United legend who won the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers, adds: “What's impressed me the most about Liverpool this season is that, besides Federico Chiesa, they didn't sign anyone, which is really unusual.
“Other than Liverpool fans, and maybe Arne Slot, I'm not sure even he would have thought they could do as well as they have.
They've just been strong in every position.
“It was largely thought that they needed a midfielder and they went for Martin Zubimendi, before the season, but they couldn't get him.
