An emotional Alan Shearer took a moment to remember his late father in the midst of Newcastle's victory parade to celebrate their epic Carabao Cup triumph earlier this month.
The Magpies ended their agonising 70 year wait for a major domestic trophy with a 2-1 victory at Wembley courtesy of goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak.
Unfortunately, though, his time with his beloved Newcastle failed to yield a trophy.
Shearer's love of Newcastle was shared by his father, Alan, who sadly passed away last year following a brave battle with cancer.
And Shearer, speaking during the parade, poignantly referenced his dad's love for the club when he was asked what he would have made of the celebrations at the Town Moor.
Talking about how much the cup win would have meant to Alan Sr, Shearer said: "Unfortunately my dad passed away last May.
I just wish he could have hung on for one more year just to see and sample this.

"But he would have been watching on and would’ve been as proud as I was."
Shearer joined the team's post-match party at Wembley after their big win and was a prominent figure in Saturday's victory parade, which was attended by hundreds of thousands of jubilant Newcastle fans.
And he was quick to pay tribute to those who made history at Wembley a fortnight ago.
