Alan Shearer has paid tribute to Liverpool in a drunken message celebrating Newcastle United’s League Cup final win over the Reds.
Goals either side of half-time from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak clinched a deserved 2-1 win for the Magpies, with Federico Chiesa’s stoppage-time strike proving to be nothing more than a late consolation.
Eddie Howe’s side were dominant at Wembley against a below-par Liverpool to clinch Newcastle’s first domestic trophy for 70 years, much to the delight of their supporters with many famous faces spotted at the game.
Legendary TV presenters Ant & Dec were both spotted celebrating wildly throughout the game, while former Reds and Newcastle striker Andy Carroll gleefully congratulated the winning Magpies players as they went up to collect the trophy.

Meanwhile, Newcastle legend Shearer, who is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 206 goals, was also picked up on cameras celebrating throughout the Magpies’ historic victory.
The former England international took to social media late on Sunday night to pay tribute to Liverpool, insisting they will be deserved Premier League winners this season.
But, inevitably, took great joy in pointing out they had been second-best to his beloved Newcastle at Wembley.
“I know I’m p***ed but …….”, he started in a drunken post on Twitter.
That was f***ing amazing.”

Meanwhile, Carroll posted a number of pictures and videos from the day on his Instagram account, including one with fellow former Liverpool and Newcastle striker Michael Owen, one with former Reds star Neil Ruddock and boyhood Liverpool fan and his former Newcastle and West Ham team-mate Kevin Nolan.
