Sir Alex Ferguson was told to apologise to Liverpool icon Jordan Henderson after revealing his reason for snubbing the midfielder.

The legendary Manchester United boss had kept an eye on Henderson as he rose through the ranks at Sunderland.

Henderson led the Reds to Premier League and Champions League glory, winning seven major honours during his 12-year stint at the club.



In his 2013 autobiography, the 13-time Premier League winner confessed that he steered clear of Henderson after spotting an unusual issue with the midfielder.

"We looked at Jordan Henderson a lot and Steve Bruce was unfailingly enthusiastic about him,” Ferguson explained.

Ferguson’s autobiography was published in October 2013 and Henderson became a vital part of the Liverpool side that came agonisingly close to winning the league that season.
