Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has been ruled out of their Premier League clash at Liverpool this evening.
But the groin injury that has sidelined the in-form forward is not expected to keep him out of the League Cup final between the teams at Wembley on March 16.
Isak has been in outstanding for Newcastle this season having scored 21 goals in 30 appearances.
Going into the latest round of games, his tally of 19 in the Premier League is bettered only by Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.
The 25-year-old netted in the 3-3 draw at home to Liverpool back in early December to spark a run of 15 goals in 13 top-flight games, the most recent of which saw him bag twice in Newcastle's 4-3 home win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

With Isak's shirt pictured in the dressing room before the game and Newcastle having two goalkeepers on the bench, it suggests his withdrawal came after the Magpies had travelled to Merseyside for the fixture.
The Sweden international has been pictured arriving at the ground.
In his place, Callum Wilson will lead the Newcastle attack at Anfield this evening.
