Liverpool has been handed another huge boost during the international break after Alexis Mac Allister was spotted back in training with Argentina.
The Reds have already been helped by the early returns of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Kostas Tsimikas from their duties, with all three making it back in one piece, although Tsimikas did miss both of Greece’s games through illness.
Curtis Jones, meanwhile, has not traveled with England to Finland due to personal reasons.
And Arne Slot will be delighted to see Mac Allister back in training in South America following his injury scare, having been substituted against Crystal Palace with a groin problem.
Despite the injury, the midfielder traveled for Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia, although he was left on the bench during the first of those fixtures.
Manager Lionel Scaloni revealed ahead of that game that Mac Allister had been undertaking a personal programme as he worked his way back to fitness.
"Alexis is training differently,” Scaloni said.
He is a boy who comes with a lot of games and today the situation is like this."
Ahead of this week’s meeting with Bolivia though, Argentina has shared a video that shows Mac Allister back training with his teammates, suggesting he will be available again.
Argentine outlet Ole confirmed the development, which will be welcomed as warmly at Liverpool as it will be in South America.
Slot already has some injury concerns ahead of next week’s return to action against Chelsea.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker will definitely miss the bout, having been forced off against Palace and now facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Harvey Elliott is another who looks likely to be absent, although the midfielder is expected to make his return later this month after fracturing his foot while on England U21 duty in September.
Slot will also be hoping for a positive update on Federico Chiesa after the winger missed the games against Bologna and Palace before the international break.
Liverpool.com says: Having Mac Allister back fit is a huge boost for Argentina and, more importantly, Liverpool.
