Alexis Mac Allister has spoken about his goal against Fulham last Sunday.
The Argentina midfielder was on the scoresheet in Liverpool’s 3-2 loss to Fulham last weekend.
Picking up the ball deep in midfield, Mac Allister shrugged off a few challenges from Fulham players before unleashing an unstoppable strike from outside the box to open the scoring for Arne Slot’s men.
While his goal was not enough to stop Liverpool from suffering their second league defeat of the season, it added to Mac Allister’s collection of long-range strikes.
The 26-year-old has developed a reputation for scoring great goals.
In an interview with the club’s official website, he revealed that his long-range strike against Fulham was not a product of the training ground.
Asked if his goal on Sunday is something he works hard on, or if it was just instinct, Mac Allister said:
“Of course, we work, we do some shooting and finishing.
At the end, it was nice because it was a good goal.”
Mac Allister has scored six times and recorded four assists for Liverpool this season, and his goal on Sunday takes him one behind last season’s total.
Asked if eclipsing his return of seven goals last season is a target in his mind, he added:
“To be fair, I don’t set any targets before the season.
But I really like getting goals and assists, and I feel like I can do it more often?
