Alisson Becker believes his performance in Wednesday night's 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain was a career best as Liverpool took a big step towards the Champions League quarter-finals at the Parc des Princes.

Harvey Elliott's late strike - just 47 seconds after his arrival - won it for the Reds in the French capital.

But it was Alisson who the visitors had to thank for keeping the clean sheet.

The Brazil international made a handful of superb saves in a game where PSG had 27 shots and 10 on target.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Alisson, whose performance saw him awarded the official player of the match gong after a record 22nd clean sheet in Europe for the Reds, reflected: "Probably [the best performance] of my life I think!

So far, hopefully.

"The manager was telling us how hard it would be to play against PSG, how good they are with the ball, we had to be ready to suffer, so when you see the clips as well you know what is coming, so much quality.

"But we worked hard, yes, we gave away so many chances but always had a player on the ball and not so many times, some of them were 1v1 but the biggest part of the chase is always having the player who is having the chance to think a little bit more.

"So it makes my job easier and all the effort the teams puts in, and in the end, for Harvey coming in and scoring the goal, it's a great night.

I think it is a really good team and we still have one more time to come.

"Hopefully we can keep the result of the second game and play a better game.

We know we have to improve at home and if we go through we will play other teams who are tough.

"We have to recognise so much quality in the PSG team, creating chances and it was a tough night for us with a happy end."
