Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has issued a positive update after suffering a head injury while on international duty with Brazil.

The 32-year-old was part of Dorvial Junior's squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina after impressing for Arne Slot's Reds this season.

On Thursday, Brazil met Colombia at Estadio Nacional and Alisson, who was making his 72nd appearance for his country, was substituted in the second half after colliding with former Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez.



Alisson was replaced by Al-Nassr's Bento in the 78th minute.



A Brazil team doctor confirmed after the game that Alisson had suffered a "suspected concussion" as a result of the collision.

And the 32-year-old has since returned to Liverpool for further assessment, meaning he is going to miss Brazil's World Cup qualifier against Argentina next Wednesday.

Liverpool said in a statement on Friday afternoon: "Alisson Becker has departed the Brazil national team set-up and he will return to Liverpool.

"The goalkeeper was forced off in the second half of his nation's World Cup qualifier with Colombia in the early hours of Friday following a collision.

"Alisson is travelling back to Merseyside.

He will undergo assessment from the Reds' medical staff."

Now, Alisson has broken silence and provided an update on his condition.

Speaking in an Instagram story, Alisson said he is "fine" and that he "just has to follow the protocols".

Accompanied with a selfie, Alisson said: "Hey guys, just to let you know I'm fine.

Thanks for the messages," alongside a love heart emoji and a folded hands emoji.

Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar gave a full update on Alisson's condition after the Liverpool 'keeper was substituted in the win over Colombia.

Lasmar confirmed that Alisson had suffered a head injury, with further tests needing to be carried out.

"Alisson suffered a trauma to the head region, he was replaced by a suspected concussion," said Lasmar, via CNN Brazil.

Liverpool are not back in action until Wednesday, April 2 when they host Everton and the Reds will hope to have Alisson back available for the fixture.
