Alisson Becker has revealed what he considers the highlight from Liverpool’s game against West Ham on Sunday.
The Reds took a step closer to winning the Premier League title at the weekend courtesy of a 2-1 win over Graham Potter’s side.
The win over the Hammers means that Arne Slot’s side can win the title next weekend.
However, energy levels dropped in the second half, and Slot’s men had Alisson to thank for keeping the Hammers at Bay for much of the game.
The No.1, returning for the first time after an injury layoff, made several crucial saves before Virgil van Dijk’s 89th-minute header
Speaking to the club’s official website after the game, Alisson admitted that the Premier League’s quality means that teams get punished if they drop in level.
The Brazilian also revealed that despite the disappointment of not keeping a clean sheet, Liverpool have something positive to take from their performance in the last minutes of the game.
“We started the game really well.
But in the Premier League, if you do not play well for 20 minutes, you can get punished, maybe even in one minute, you can get punished,” Alisson said.
“The place West Ham are in the table doesn’t say anything about their quality, their team.
But I’m so glad that we could get the result, and it brings us closer to our main goal this season.
“It’s really disappointing when you concede a goal like that.
We know our responsibility on the goal – sometimes you have to clap hands to the opponent because they deserve it for the way they play, but it was really poor for us for 15, 20 minutes defensively, giving too much space.
“Then we have to highlight the energy, the intensity we put in at the end of the match after conceding the goal to get the winner in the last minutes and keep defending, keep the result.
“Football is about that as well – not always are you going to have a clear performance, a clear game?
