Arne Slot detailed the tactical change that helped propel Liverpool toward a famous victory at Paris Saint-German after the “miracle” of surviving until half-time unscathed.
The Reds withstood a first-half battering to take control of their Champions League round of 16 tie with substitute Harvey Elliott’s late goal earning a 1-0 win at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening.
Having dominated before the break, PSG saw their opportunities restricted to shots from outside the area in the second half as Liverpool began to deal better with the attacking threat of the French side.
And Reds boss Slot explained: “We changed a bit the way we pressed in the second half compared to the first half.

“In the first half they had three or four open chances and the moment they went one on one, in the first half it was almost a miracle it was 0-0.
In the second half it was more due to their quality that they could create chances.
“PSG was by far the better team in ball possession than us.
Every underlying stat showed they were best team in the Champions League apart from the league table.
“They’ve had Arsenal, Bayern, Atletico and Man City and Atletico Madrid and still have best underlying stats.
I wasn’t surprised they were so good.”
Slot also praised the performance of Italian referee Davide Massa as he addressed the flashpoint when PSG believed Ibrahima Konate should conceded a penalty and been sent off after tangling with Bradley Barcola.
“I was very happy that with difficult circumstances the referee wasn’t always persuaded, it's not always that situation in away games,” he said.

“If you are referring a game like this where the fans are so there for the home team, apart from one moment where you could argue if it’s a red yes or no with Ibou and Barcola, I didn’t think he was in favour of us or them.
It was just a top referee that should be in a game like this.
“If the ref had blown his whistle (for Konate) the VAR would not have overturned it, but it was clear for me that he shouldn’t overturn it as it wasn’t clearly wrong.
