Alphonso Davies has a major career choice to make in the coming months and Liverpool could be the answer.
The Bayern Munich left-back is due to become a free agent at the end of the season, with his contract in Germany set to expire.
The Canadian will, therefore, be eligible to enter negotiations with Premier League and other foreign suitors from January 1 over a pre-contract agreement.
Latest reports suggest he is warming to the idea of joining the Premier League leaders, where he can have the benefit of picking his ideal shirt number.
A quiet summer transfer window for Liverpool has only heightened expectation that incomings could be around the corner, especially now Arne Slot has witnessed cracks in defensive depth first-hand - a factor that has seen Davies linked to the club.
A move to Liverpool would certainly fit the theme of 'opportunistic' deals the club have completed in recent windows, while also assuring top quality and longevity for the left back role in Slot's system for years to come.
Davies has worn the No.19 shirt at Bayern since he arrived from boyhood team Vancouver Whitecaps, wearing it to win five Bundesliga titles, two German Cups, one German Super Cup, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
Asked about picking his shirt number, he gave the reasoning: "It’s the year I’m eligible to play for this amazing club."
Using this logic, he could opt for the No.25 shirt should he complete a move to Liverpool, and coincidentally it is one that is currently vacant at Anfield.
It was last worn by goalkeeper Pepe Reina, who departed for Bayern, funnily enough, in 2014.

But Davies' dream might just be the No.19 as that is the one he has donned for club and country throughout his senior professional years.
When taking the No19 shirt ahead of the 2022/23 campaign Elliott explained his pleasure to inherit it directly from Sadio Mane as he 'gets down the ranks in terms of the numbers' - perhaps meaning the door to No.19 could open for Davies in good time, should he join the club of course.
