Liverpool have had some top professionals over the years, yet none come as good or as iconic as Steven Gerrard.
The former Anfield captain is well-regarded as one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players and a dream for a manager, with Gerrard’s style of training and his work ethic one of the reasons why the midfielder was as good as was for the Reds.
With Rio Ferdinand noting the fear Gerrard would put into fellow teammates whilst with England, the Liverpool legend is someone who has rightfully become a role model for many players in the red side of Merseyside looking for inspiration whilst in training.
Yet for former Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt, Gerrard was not the best player in training during his time at Anfield.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official YouTube channel in 2012, the former Dutch international named Jordan Henderson as the best player in training, with the midfielder at that stage in his career just one year into his 12-year stint with the Reds.
Kuyt said when asked about Liverpool’s best player in training: “I think Jordan Henderson is always good in training, he always likes to give it a go and always wants to win every game, for me, he’s the best player in training.”
With Henderson named in Thomas Tuchel’s first squad as England manager, the now-veteran midfielder is another player who is highly rated by managers, with the Ajax star’s mentality on and off the pitch a reason the former Anfield captain succeeded at Anfield.
Indeed, with Henderson himself naming James Milner as the best trainer at Liverpool, the Reds have been blessed with some truly incredible players behind the scenes, who in turn have led the club to an incredible amount of success.

Liverpool have changed a lot in the two years since Henderson left Merseyside for Saudi Arabia, with a new manager at the helm in Arne Slot which in turn has led to a change in training techniques and methods at the club.
Yet there is only one winner when it comes to the best player in training, with Conor Bradley lauding Virgil van Dijk as the hardest-working figure behind the scenes at Liverpool, with the Dutch international certainly a top performer.
With Mohamed Salah also regarded as a good trainer at Liverpool, there’s a reason why Slot has fine-tuned the Reds to the extent the Dutchman has this season, with results in the Premier League speaking for themselves.
