Liverpool secured the Premier League title with a 5-1 win at home against Tottenham, with Dominik Szoboszlai the main man for the Reds.
The Hungarian international bagged two assists for Liverpool as the former RB Leipzig star enjoyed one of his best performances of the season for Arne Slot’s side, with the display coming just a few days after Jamie Carragher criticised Szoboszlai’s lack of output in the attacking midfield role.
Carragher said: “I still think Liverpool lack something going forward from midfield.
Szoboszlai does a good job.
But I think they can definitely get someone in there who can score more goals.”
Yet it’s safe to say that Szoboszlai has more than silenced Carragher after Sunday’s performance, and the 24-year-old maestro showed why he has been a key part for Liverpool this season.

Playing as the sole attacking midfielder in Slot’s 4-2-3-1 system, it’s understandable why the likes of Carragher have been critical of Szoboszlai’s numbers this season, with Mohamed Salah the main output man for Liverpool.
Yet as seen below against Tottenham, Szoboszlai was a man on a mission at Anfield, with the former Bundesliga playmaker managing two assists and creating an incredible eight chances, the most out of any player on the day.

With Tottenham as bad as they are defensively, Sunday’s match at Anfield was as good a chance as any for Szoboszlai to really show Liverpool fans and pundits how good he really is and why he deserves a spot in this squad going forward.

And the Hungary international proved that and then some against Spurs, with everything going through Szoboszlai in the final third for Liverpool as the Reds secured the Premier League title in stunning fashion on Merseyside.
Szoboszlai might have won this round with Carragher, but the attacking midfielder will still be aware that next season will have to see individual improvement in his goal involvement numbers if he’s to retain his place in Slot’s starting XI.
Ally McCoist lauded Szoboszlai as ‘amazing’ earlier in the season after his goal against Newcastle United, and more moments like that as well as performances like what we saw on the weekend against Tottenham will help the Hungarian greatly next year.
Indeed, Szoboszlai played as big a role as any other player in Liverpool’s squad in winning the Premier League, and the 24-year-old attacking midfielder will now want to end the season with a flourish with a victory tour now on the cards for the Reds.
