Trent Alexander-Arnold and a potential free transfer to Real Madrid have dominated headlines, with reports suggesting a deal is nearing completion.

The 26-year-old Liverpool vice-captain, whose contract expires in July 2025, has been linked to Madrid since January 2023, with talks reportedly in advanced stages.

While no formal agreement has yet been signed, it has been widely reported that Real Madrid are very optimistic about securing the Scouser’s signature.

Amid all the speculation, Andy Robertson has now responded to some of the headlines:

“Our focus is for him to get back fit and healthy and once he does that then hopefully back on the pitch,” he said as quoted by the reliable Lewis Steele.

“Once he does that, what will happen, will happen.”

He adds that ‘no one knows’ what the future  will hold for his wingback partner:

“No one knows that yet.

People can talk and there’s a lot of speculation, everyone is speaking about it.

But for us we just want another right-back option back and Trent is a huge player for that.”
