Liverpool will return to Premier League action tomorrow as they welcome West Ham to Anfield.
The players will be wanting to put things right after a humbling defeat to Fulham last weekend.
West Ham visit Anfield in a difficult position as they currently sit 16th in the Premier League as they’ve undergone a campaign marred by inconsistency.
Liverpool will have to approach every game, regardless of the quality of their position, with the upmost intensity with a Premier League title on the line.
Whilst the events on the pitch tomorrow will be of high importance, there is a bigger message to be sent tomorrow, one that transcends football.
On and off the pitch, tomorrow will be a hugely important game not only for the club, but for the city of Liverpool.
As we approach the 36th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster which falls on next Tuesday, Sunday’s game will see Anfield pay respects to the 97 supporters who went to a football game and never came home.
Virgil van Dijk has spoken about the importance of remembering those we lost that day.
The Captain said: “Sunday is an important one for Liverpool Football Club, both on and off the field.
First and foremost, Anfield will pay tribute to the victims of Hillsborough ahead of the 36th anniversary.”
“I consider myself extremely blessed to be the captain of this football club, and on behalf of everybody at the club we want to honour the men, women and children who lost their lives, and to pay our respects to all those affected by what happened that day.”
“You are in our thoughts, on this day and always.”
A day that is set to be extremely emotional for everyone involved with the club.
Let’s hope the players can get the job done and secure the three points to give us all something to cheer about.
