Liverpool, it is fair to say, likes the Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon.
It likes the England ace so much, in fact, that it agreed to sacrifice Joe Gomez a few weeks ago in order to get a deal done — albeit that never got over the line.
It remains possible that a deal to bring Gordon to Anfield comes off this summer but even if not, it is unlikely that the interest in the 23-year-old will subside.
Under contract only until 2026, as long as Gordon doesn't pen an extension with Newcastle United, while his club wants to keep him, it will be backed more and more into a corner.
Not everyone has been impressed with what Gordon has produced so far in his career, though.
Former Manchester United and Nottingham Forest midfielder Roy Keane wasn't too quick to praise him at the back end of last season.

Discussing Gordon on The Overlap, Keane was typically cutting with his analysis.
He’s on that road (to success) and he’s seen it."
It would have been near-impossible for Gordon to move directly from Everton to Liverpool.
By going to Newcastle and signing a shorter contract than most would have anticipated, however, an Anfield switch might be on the agenda in the future.
Liverpool.com says: Gordon has not signed for a club that is likely to win things consistently immediately just yet but he appears to have a decent amount of leverage when it comes to taking the next step.
If he wanted to end up at Liverpool eventually, he was going to have to leave Everton for a better club but not another member of the established top six.
