Anthony Gordon is set to be suspended for the upcoming Carabao Cup final between Liverpool and Newcastle.

The England winger was shown a straight red card in the FA Cup tie with Brighton.

Newcastle had led in the fifth round game after Alexander Isak scored on his return from injury before Brighton leveled the scores through Yankuba Minteh against his former club.



Gordon went to ground after a challenge from Brajan Gruda while chasing a ball over the top.

Clearly frustrated, Gordon then soon clashed with Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke in a moment of madness

The ex-Everton winger raised his hand and shoved Van Hecke to the ground, leaving Taylor with little option but to show a red card.

Liverpool and Newcastle are set to meet at Wembley in two weeks' time, with Newcastle playing one Premier League match against West Ham before then

Swedish striker Isak was withdrawn soon after the red card and appeared to be limping as he made his way down the tunnel.
