Arda Guler has hit back at Dominik Szoboszlai, calling the Liverpool midfielder ‘a joke’ after they clashed during Hungary and Turkey’s UEFA Nations League promotion/relegation play-off.

The Turks won 6-1 on aggregate to win promotion to League A and relegate the Hungarians to League B in the process.

Winning 3-0 in Budapest, Guler scored Turkey’s second goal and celebrated with a shush gesture at Szoboszlai.

The Liverpool midfielder would later taunt the Real Madrid star on social media following the altercation.

Responding to an Instagram post featuring a picture of him being shushed by his Guler, the Hungarian wrote ‘1088’.

That is the exact amount of minutes the 20-year-old has featured for the La Liga giants this season having found himself on the fringes of Carlo Ancelotti’s side, starting just seven times in the league and Champions League.

But now Guler has replied with a brutal response of his own on his Instagram story.

Sharing the image of him shushing Szoboszlai, the 20-year-old wrote: “This guy is a joke.

Isn’t 6 goals enough to shut you up?” along with a shushing emoji.

The shared picture also featured an edited scoreboard, showing that Turkey had won 3-0 with Guler scoring the second goal.

But ‘Szoboszlai, 1 Instagram comment’ had also been added on Hungary's side of the board in a further dig at the Liverpool star.

While Szoboszlai might not have gotten the better of Guler on the international stage, he was part of the Reds side that beat Real Madrid 2-0 back in November.

The Turk made one of his seven starts this season at Anfield, but was withdrawn after 56 minutes moments after Alexis Mac Allister had fired Liverpool in front.

It remains to be seen if Szoboszlai will respond and continue the war of words between the bickering pair.
