Liverpool could wrap up the Premier League title with four games to spare when it faces Spurs at Anfield on Sunday— but head coach Arne Slot has warned his rivals that the best is yet to come.
Since taking over from Jurgen Klopp last summer, Slot has only lost one league game with the Reds, which was against Nottingham Forest.
His team will be crowned champion for a record-equaling 20th time if earns at least a point against Tottenham.
But when he was asked ahead of the game if there are still more improvements to be made, Slot said: "Yeah, yeah, definitely.
So yeah, close maybe in some parts of the season or in some games, but in other moments we have to do much better."
Last time Liverpool won the league title, its supporters were unable to celebrate properly thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Parts of the season we were maybe quite close to that or phases in a game but in general every manager that works at a top club wants to have control of a game, every single minute of the game," Slot added.
"But that is hardly possible in this league.
There were phases also during the season or during games where we didn’t have that control so I think we can do and we have to become even better than we are now and we can."
Captain Virgil van Dijk, who will lift the Premier League trophy at the end of the season following the last match of the campaign against Crystal Palace, feels a similar way.
"Like I said, we had this season without a proper pre-season, without proper work behind the scenes on how the manager wants us to attack and defend, and be in possession.
"We do those things in training, but especially in the first part of the season, you don't have time to work on those things because you work every three or four days
