Arne Slot has revealed Cody Gakpo and Joe Gomez won't be back in time for Liverpool's Premier League game against Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
Gakpo picked up an ankle injury in last week's 2-2 draw at Goodison Park that forced him to sit out Sunday's Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Meanwhile, Gomez has been missing since the FA Cup loss against Plymouth Argyle defeat on 9 February when he was replaced after 11 minutes.
"Cody got a knock in the Everton game," Slot said after the 2-1 victory at Anfield.
It’s under debate [whether he will be back to face Villa].
Gakpo's absence is a blow for the Reds, with the Dutchman playing in every single Premier League game this season prior to the weekend, and contributing eight league goals so far.
In his place, Slot selected Luis Diaz on the left wing, a policy he is likely to redeploy against Villa, although Federico Chiesa is another option
Diogo Jota started centrally at the weekend but, as he is recovering from an injury, Darwin Nunez may come in to replace him in the line-up.
The Uruguayan was on target when Liverpool last played Villa in early November, one of just four league goals Nunez has scored this season.
The Villans drew 1-1 against Ipswich Town last weekend and currently sits ninth in the table, a big downgrade on the fourth-place finish from last season
But Villa have not lost at home since the last time it played Villa and only Arsenal have come away from Villa Park with three Premier League points this season.
As for Gomez, Slot confirmed the defender will out out for a few weeks with the hamstring injury, a recurrence of the problem he initially suffered in December.
Elsewhere, Tyler Morton is the only other injury, while Curtis Jones is available once again following his red cad against Everton last week.
