Mohamed Salah has officially signed a  contract with Liverpool Football Club, ending months of speculation about the Egyptian star’s future at Anfield.

The surprise announcement was made early Friday morning as the club confirmed that their prolific forward will remain on Merseyside for the foreseeable future.

While no official acknowledgement of the length is forthcoming, it has been widely reported that the 32-year-old extends his stay by two years.

By the time this new contract expires, Salah will be 35 years old and will have completed a remarkable decade of service to Liverpool.

The new contract brings to an end a protracted saga regarding Salah’s future that had left many Liverpool supporters concerned.

Earlier in the season, following Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over Southampton in November, Salah had indicated in a rare post-match interview that he felt his departure was more likely than staying, expressing disappointment that no formal proposal had been presented at that time.

Despite reportedly receiving more lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia, Salah opted to remain at Merseyside, where he has made a home for himself and his family since joining from Roma in 201

Speaking in his pre-West Ham press conference, Arne Slot reacted to the news and confirmed that it would a two-year deal:

He has shown for so many years in a row how much value he has to the club, like all the fans and the team-mates they are very happy he has extended for two more years.”
