Transfer surprise

With Emile Smith Rowe closing on a move from Arsenal to Fulham, Liverpool are poised to become the only Premier League team not to have made a major signing this summer.

That has prompted increasing consternation among the fanbase given the need to strengthen and close the gap on Manchester City and Arsenal following last season's third-place finish.

Slot, though, has explained the lack of movement and his ongoing discussions with Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, and believes it would be a "surprise" if new faces aren't seen at Anfield before the transfer deadline passes on August 30.

"The first aim is to work with these players," he said.

“Diogo is arriving today I think, so he will have his testing day tomorrow and the day after he will join us in the session,” said Slot on Thursday.

The rest will start after the trip when we are back in Liverpool.”

And when asked about Alisson Becker, Slot reiterated: “I think he will start also in Liverpool when we’re back.”
