Liverpool took further control at the top of the Premier League table with a magnificent 2-0 win at Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

A 30th goal of the season for Mohamed Salah and a Dominik Szoboszlai effort before the break ensured the Reds their first league win at the Etihad in almost a decade.

Liverpool are again in top-flight action on Wednesday evening when they entertain Newcastle United looking to at the very least maintain their 11-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.

And here we look ahead to the changes Slot could make when his team are next in action.

Tsimikas on standby

The final of five Premier League games in 15 days ahead of a full week of rest, the big question for Slot will be how many of his players are capable of going for one final time without putting themselves at risk of a muscle injury.

Alisson Becker will be expected to continue in goal with Caoimhin Kelleher his deputy and Vitezslav Jaros third-choice.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is almost certain to stay at right-back given Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez injured, although Jarell Quansah did start there in the 3-3 draw at Newcastle in December.

Quansah is also the alternative should either skipper Virgil van Dijk or Ibrahima Konate be rested at centre-back.

More likely, though, is Kostas Tsimikas coming in for Andy Robertson at left-back after the latter tired following an impressive opening hour at City.

Midfield reshuffle

Liverpool played a box midfield at the Etihad with four in the engine room.

It would be a major call, though, for Slot to replicate that approach at home, meaning three midfielders will be required on Wednesday.

Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister have remained regulars as the double pivot and seem set to keep their places, with Wataru Endo the next in line having emerged from the bench at the Etihad.

Dominik Szoboszlai put in a massive shift against City and may be the more likely to be rested, which would mean Curtis Jones keeping his starting role ahead of Harvey Elliott.

Tyler Morton is out injured with a shoulder problem, while youngsters James McConnell and Trey Nyoni haven't featured at all in the Premier League this season.

Strikers ready

There will be an overhaul of the forward options on Wednesday, although not on the right flank where Mohamed Salah is firmly ensconced as a staple of Slot's team.

Cody Gakpo returned from injury with a late cameo at City and will be expected to be back on the left flank, which would leave a decision between Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez to lead the line.

Federico Chiesa is the other available forward but has yet to start a Premier League game since arriving from Juventus in the summer.
