Arne Slot speaks at his Liverpool press conference this morning
Rare anticipation buzzed among the assembled media throng at the AXA Training Centre on Friday morning.
With the reverberations of a tumultuous final Goodison derby still being felt barely 36 hours on, this was the first time Arne Slot had spoken on the controversial ending to an historic evening.
While the Reds boss kept everyone waiting for a few minutes after his scheduled arrival, there was no hesitation in diving straight into events during the 2-2 draw at Everton.
But if the nitty-gritty of his post-match red card was swiftly batted away due to the need for discretion over the ongoing Football Association disciplinary procedure, Slot was more than willing to discuss everything that happened before in the 245th meeting between the two neighbours.

And if accepted the immediate emotion was that of defeat, the opportunity for extended reflection having been unable to address the media after the game prompted Slot to embrace what he regards as positives from a difficult evening.
“It felt immediately after the referee blew his whistle that we lost two points,” said the Liverpool boss.
I already knew how well they can play but the togetherness shows me that we are a very difficult team to beat."
Certainly, there was no indication Slot was in anything other than good spirits, pausing at one moment to note one of the media being less than subtle with their use of a tablet.
"It's not that we bring someone else in (to help)," said Slot.
Part of mentality is also to work as hard as can in difficult circumstances, such as when things are going against you or other team better than you in a moment, how do you react.
"Two or one days before the game I showed some clips from last season (at Everton) and how we reacted in certain situations.
His assistant Sipke Huslhoff was also sent off, while Curtis Jones received a second yellow for his response to Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure goading the away supporters.
Jones will now sit out Sunday's Premier League visit of Wolves through suspension having made his comeback from injury with an impressive cameo during the final quarter on Wednesday.

"I like a lot that he stands up for the team but there are other ways for him to do that for the team and the fans," added Slot.
