This week was a big one in the history of Everton Football Club.
The Merseyside club hosted their first match on their new 52,888-capacity stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock on Monday night as Everton and Wigan’s under-18 teams competed in a friendly contest.
The test event saw thousands of Everton fans experience their new stadium for the first time as they prepare to leave Goodison Park at the end of the season.
Wigan’s U18’s would emerge from the match as 2-1 winners, but the storyline on the night related to Latics midfielder Harrison Rimmer, who became the first player to score at Everton’s new stadium when he popped up with a goal in the 13th minute.
Unfortunately for supporters of the Blues, the Wigan star is a Liverpool fan and proceeded to taunt the home crowd with six fingers following his goal, relating to the amount of European Cups the Reds have.
Arne Slot was aware of this heading into his press conference on Tuesday and a joke cracked by the Dutch coach has not gone down well with Everton fans.

Liverpool travel to Aston Villa on Wednesday night as the Reds look to continue their quest for the Premier League title and ahead of that game, Slot spoke to the press on Tuesday.
The Dutch coach began his press conference by asking reporters: “Who scored first?” This was related to the Everton test event the night before and the Liverpool boss’ joke has not gone down well with the blue half of Merseyside.

The Everton clash was a big blow for Liverpool but Arne Slot loved the fight his team and Curtis Jones showed throughout the contest.
Jones’ spat with Everton star Abdoulaye Doucoure, along with the result, had the potential to cause a serious hangover for the Dutch coach’s squad, but the Reds responded with a win on Sunday.
Liverpool struggled against Wolves, especially in the second half, but the three points was all the Merseyside club needed.
The Everton game is now in the rearview mirror as Liverpool enter a crucial week where they travel to Aston Villa and Man City.
