Arne Slot knows Liverpool transfer plans after Reds confirm huge loss and PSR position

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has previously dismissed fears over summer spending after the club posted a loss of £57million from last season's accounts.

The Reds announced the eye-opening figures on Friday after being hit by the impact of not being in the Champions League last season, which saw their media revenue fall by £38m to £204m.

The club made only one signing this season as Federico Chiesa arrived from Juventus for around £10m and there have now been concerns over Liverpool's ability to splash the cash this summer after posting huge losses.

However, Liverpool are not at risk of breaching the Premier League's PSR regulations and will still be able to invest in the squad at the end of the season, especially with the likelihood that at least one of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave the club.

After being asked about Liverpool's transfer plans to spend this summer at his press conference ahead of last weekend's game against Manchester City, Slot insisted the club would invest more than they did this season after identifying the areas they want to strengthen.

"We are looking at every single position and we are looking at the team," the Dutchman said(

"Now we have a very good idea about that, and I think it's clear to you that I'm not going to tell you which positions we prefer, but it is clear that we've assessed the squad, we've assessed what we think where we can improve, and that's where we try to go for in the summer."

There should be a much more improved situation for Liverpool's finances next year, should they hold onto their lead at the top of the Premier League and go far in the Champions League.
