Arne Slot could be crowned an honorary Scouser on Sunday - but the Dutchman admits it might take him 10 years to feel the part.

Slot will become only the fifth manager to win the Premier League in his first season in England if Liverpool take a point from their clash with Tottenham.

And the Kop fans are preparing to hail him as one of their own in Anfield's first public title coronation for 35 years.

Slot insists that he has been touched by the way Merseyside’s fanatical supporters have taken him into their hearts - but reckons it's going to take him a little longer to feel the same way as long-serving legends like Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Kenny Dalglish and Jurgen Klopp.

Slot, who can emulate Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Manuel Pellegrini and Antonio Conte by lifting the title in his debut season, said: “When you start to work here, then quite quickly you get a certain feeling.

“But it’s not true that I have the same feeling as someone who has been here forever.

If I could feel that in just 10 months, it would be a bit weird when someone has stood on the Kop for many years and I've only stood on the touchline for one season.

“It’s impossible to become the same as the fans who have been here for 30 or 40 years.

But the good thing about these fans is that they let you feel immediately what they feel.
