Arne Slot handed a Liverpool debut to Isaac Mabaya - only to haul him off 47 minutes later in their FA Cup encounter.

Slot switched up his starting XI and handed minutes to several squad players with Joe Gomez coming in to the backline, only to suffer an injury blow early on.

Gomez was forced off after 11 minutes and Slot turned to Mabaya as his replacement.



The 20-year-old took over from James McConnell at right-back, with the early switch prompting a tactical reshuffle.

The new man on the pitch must've thought he'd now see out the game but, after Plymouth took a shock lead at Home Park, the Liverpool boss showed with ruthless side by hauling off Mabaya - who had endured a difficult first outing - and bringing on Darwin Nunez.

Slot included several young players in the line-up - including McConnell Trey Nyoni - with Mabaya adding to the inexperience when he emerged from the bench.

He has been with Liverpool since he was a six-year-old, progressing through the academy.

Isaac Mabaya made his debut off the bench - but was hauled off less than 50 minutes later.

Liverpool are favourites to land a second Premier League title as they hold a six-point lead over Arsenal in second despite playing a game fewer.
