Liverpool FC have enjoyed a successful shift from previous manager Jürgen Klopp to current boss Arne Slot.
Klopp built Liverpool 2.0 before he left, and Arne Slot came in and added his influence and intelligence to create a Liverpool side that looks unbeatable every time they set foot on the pitch.
Slot has lost just two games since he took over Liverpool.
The first defeat came to Nottingham Forest earlier in the season, and the second recently to Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup.
While Spurs beat Liverpool, the tie is not yet over as the two still have a return fixture at Anfield to play, and Arne Slot’s Liverpool could well advance to the final following the second leg.
One of the most important areas of the game for Liverpool is the midfield, where Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Alexis Mac Allister work in tandem to dominate the opposition and transition from back to front.
The three players, all brought in by Jürgen Klopp last season, have been Arne Slot’s preferred midfield choice.
Yesterday, Dominik Szoboszlai put Liverpool ahead after just eleven minutes with his strike from outside the box.
The Hungarian has now scored four goals for Liverpool this season, with three of those coming in the Premier League, which equals the number of goals he scored in the Premier League last season.
Speaking after the game, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot had words of praise for Liverpool’s Hungarian midfielder.
“I think that’s the development the team is in,” he said.
“Because when we played Brentford, we had 37 shots – a record in the Premier League for an away team – so because he is involved in that team, he will probably take a few shots then as well.”
Speaking about Szoboszlai’s development in recent weeks, Slot noted something different in the player that led to his goal.
“If you zoom in on Dom, I think at the beginning of the season, he would have played the ball to Mo,” Slot said.
“Which was most of the time a very good choice because Mo can definitely score a goal as well!
“Now he decided to go for himself and score the goal himself.”
“Nice for him because he is, in my opinion, a little bit underestimated.
“Not by me, but he doesn’t always get the credit for the fact that he is very important for this team because his work rate is unbelievable.
“He just keeps on running at the highest intensity, and that is so important for a team that wants to compete for something.”
