Arne Slot has opened the door on the possibility of a new Liverpool contract by admitting that he now understands why Jurgen Klopp decided to stay at Anfield for almost nine years.
The Reds boss is closing in on the Premier League title in his first season after succeeding the German - and captain Virgil van Dijk is now expected to give the Merseysiders another massive boost by following Mohamed Salah by signing a fresh deal that will keep him on Merseyside for another two seasons.

Slot signed a three-year contract when he arrived from Feyenoord last summer - and is reluctant to talk about his own circumstances.

Slot is closing in on becoming just the fourth manager to win the Premier League in his first season with a club, following on from Chelsea's Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte in 2005 and 2017 respectively, Manchester City's Manuel Pellegrini in 2014 and Leicester's Claudio Ranieri in 2016.
