One month after he was appointed as the legendary Jurgen Klopp's successor, Liverpool's new head coach Arne Slot addressed the media for the first time this morning in a press conference at the AXA Training Centre.

The Dutchman met the media at 11am alongside the clubs new sporting director Richard Hughes.

In the opening question by Sky Sports, Slot was asked how he would describe himself with reference to Klopp's iconic “I am the normal one” line, which the German uttered at his own first press conference as Reds boss.

Slot replied: “Maybe he said he was the normal one but I think the fans see him differently, maybe not as a person, but what he did for the club was more than normal.”

Slot expressed the importance of letting his success at the club determine how supporters view him and how he is keen to commence a new start for the club post-Klopp.

Whilst admitting that Klopp is a tough act to follow, Slot has expressed his excitement for his new challenge and the opportunities that it brings.

Much to many Liverpool fans' relief, Slot and the club's new sporting director Richard Hughes dismissed worries surrounding the loyalty of three key players Mohamed Salah, Trent-Alexander Arnold and captain Virgil Van Dijk, who are all now in the final 12 months of their contracts.

“The only concern I and Arne have about these situations is total commitment from the players to the cause for next season and we are absolutely convinced that will be the case,” said Hughes.

Despite slightly sidestepping the initial question from Sky Sports, Slot came across well when discussing his aims and objectives for the Reds, kicking off his new era in a positive fashion.
