Liverpool took a big step towards the Premier League title with a dramatic 2-1 win against West Ham.

Virgil van Dijk was the hero for the hosts as the Anfield captain met a late Alexis Mac Allister corner to fire Liverpool into the lead and to wrap up all three points for the Reds, with Arne Slot’s side now two wins away from the English championship.

With Jamie Carragher in awe with Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s most important players are hitting form at the right time for the Merseyside giants, who could be crowned Premier League champions before the end of this month.

And Slot believes on Liverpool player had his best game this season for the Reds against West Ham.

Speaking to the press, the Dutch manager was full of praise for Alisson Becker, with Slot lauding the Liverpool goalkeeper’s performance against West Ham as his ‘best game of the season’ so far.

The former AS Roma shot-stopper was in top form for Liverpool with Alisson making a number of key saves to deny West Ham a real route back into the game, and Slot was impressed with what he saw from the Brazilian, as well as Salah and Van Dijk.

Slot said about Liverpool’s superstar players: “It would not be completely fair to talk about them [Alisson, Salah and Van Dijk], but I think as a manager you’re always looking for the ones that have already achieved a lot in the career and who can step up in the moments this season.

“I think at the end of the season these moments get bigger and bigger, today all three of them showed up.

Alisson probably had his best game of the season today, and Virgil scored the header that gave us three points.

Mo was also really important for the first goal, he was really lively in the first-half.”

Alisson was on top form this afternoon against West Ham, with the 32-year-old’s performance between the sticks a key reason why Liverpool were able to get the job done eventually even after scoring an own goal.

But to call this performance Alisson’s best game of the season might be a stretch too far from Slot, especially after the Brazilian’s performance against PSG earlier in the year has already gone down in folklore amongst Liverpool fans.

Indeed, Alisson has shown this season why he is still regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and the Liverpool man played as a big role as anyone in the Reds getting a big win against West Ham.
