Darwin Nunez produced one of the misses of the season off the bench against Aston Villa as the Liverpool forward skied an effort well over the crossbar with the goal at his mercy.

With the scores level at 2-2, the Reds looked certain to take the lead in the second half when Dominik Szoboszlai squared the ball across the penalty area for Nunez, bypassing Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez and appearing to set Nunez up for a tap-in.

The Uruguayan blazed the ball over the bar, though, with the pressure applied by Axel Disasi the only possible explanation for the miss.

Reds head coach Arne Slot looked stunned as he watched on from the touchline, putting his hands to his head and asking the fourth official if Nunez was offside, perhaps looking for an explanation that would soften the blow.
