Arne Slot has revealed which of his current Liverpool players he thinks will most likely succeed as a manager.
Liverpool has had several of its former players succeed as managers.
Steven Gerrard, for example, won the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers, doing so without losing a single game.
Last season, Xavi Alonso led Bayer Leverkusen to a historic domestic double, narrowly missing out on a historic unbeaten season.
The current Liverpool squad also has a lot of leaders and winners in the dressing room, including the likes of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Alexis Mac Allister, who won the World Cup with Argentina.
In a wide-ranging interview with Sky Sports, Slot has now revealed which of his current players would make the best manager.
Who Arn Slot said will make the best manager
Arne Slot named Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk as the player that is most likely to make a good manager.
“ I know he’s not interested in becoming a manager and that’s Virgil but he’s mostly the one I pick when I want to give information during the game,” Slot said.
“Also because he’s Dutch so that helps in the language but I think he has a good knowledge of the game ”
The manager also name-checked Alexis Mac Allister, pointing out the midfielder’s football knowledge as a big asset.
“Mac Allister has a good knowledge of the game and can implement the ideas we have fast,” he added.
