Liverpool fans awoke to the great news that Mohamed Salah had agreed to a new deal at Liverpool FC – with the Dutchman confirming it was a two-year deal.
So far this term, he has netted 32 goals in just 45 appearances across all competitions, with 27 of those coming in the Premier League, making him the division’s leading marksman.
These impressive statistics are further enhanced by his 22 assists for teammates the current campaign.
Since arriving at Anfield in 2017, Salah has cemented his place as one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players.
His remarkable record in front of goal has propelled him to outright third place in the club’s all-time top scorers list, with 243 strikes in 394 appearances to date.
Only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt have found the back of the net more frequently for the Reds.
Speaking exclusively to Liverpool’s official channels about his new contract, Salah expressed his enthusiasm about continuing his journey with the club:
“Of course, I’m very excited.
We have a great team now.
Before also we had a great team.
Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future, we’re going to win more trophies.”
Of course, there were plenty of moments when it looked like the Egyptian would not sign, with a new report every week claiming to know Salah’s final destination.
But speaking in his pre-West Ham press conference, Arne Slot has revealed why he has always been calm about the contract situation – hailing the leadership of Michael Edwards and C0 as being key to his relaxed nature:
“In general, people see me as relaxed and that has all to do wth the trust I have in the quality of the players and the quality of leadership in FSG, Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, that is why
“I am indeed calm, they will do what is best for the club.
There’s a reason for me to be calm.
First of all, it is about us being happy we’ve seen Mo extend.”
