Salah would be committing the best of his remaining playing years to Liverpool if the agreement goes through - as he will be 33 when the next season begins.
Van Dijk is in a similar situation, and retaining both would be a big boost off for many supporters.
Some fans say that Salah will need careful management if he sticks around, however.
