The Egypt forward is having a season on par with his electric debut in 2017/2018, with 27 goals and 17 assists in 31 games in the Premier League - a huge share of the team's output as Liverpool close in on another title.

Salah is comfortably the most impactful player on the squad - and he would remain a key man at the club for as long as he do anything close to that.

Salah would be committing the best of his remaining playing years to Liverpool if the agreement goes through - as he will be 33 when the next season begins.

Van Dijk is in a similar situation, and retaining both would be a big boost off for many supporters.

Some fans say that Salah will need careful management if he sticks around, however.
