Arne Slot is adamant his Liverpool players won’t be swept up in the excitement this week as his team moved to within the brink of the Premier League title.
Trent Alexander-Arnold stepped off the bench to score the only goal on 76 minutes to ensure victory at relegated Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.
With second-placed Arsenal having won at Ipswich Town earlier in the day, the Reds remain 13 points clear at the summit and require just three more points with five games remaining to earn a record-equalling 20th championship.
Liverpool can wrap up the Premier League crown with victory against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield next Sunday, although they will be champions if Arsenal lose at home to Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening.

And asked about handling the expectation of the coming days, Slot said: “I think I have to wait and see, because I haven’t experienced it here yet.
“But what I do know from my experience at Feyenoord is that of course there is a lot of noise and everybody is excited, but at our training ground we are just focused on the training session we do and try to prepare in the best way possible for Tottenham, which is a team where the injured players are coming back and they deserve our full attention.
“The boys have one or two days off during this week which we planned a long time ago, and hopefully they will enjoy some time with their loved ones and be fully focused when we are back together towards Tottenham.”
Liverpool were compelled to celebrate their most recent Premier League title success at an empty Anfield in 2020 due to coronavirus restrictions.
And while praising the backing from the travelling Kop at the King Power Stadium, Slot believes supporters won’t mind where the title is clinched provided it happens.

“The fans were definitely sensational today,” said the Reds boss.
“But the only thing the fans want is us winning the league.
“After one league title in 35 years with them not being involved because of Covid – they were involved but not as much as they would have wanted – any moment that it happens would be special for them.
“We are definitely looking forward to next week because I assume Arsenal will win in the week as they are such a good team.
We probably have to do it ourselves, and the first chance we have is next week against Tottenham.”
