Arne Slot has opened up on the work that has gone into improving Liverpool's set-pieces after Trent Alexander-Arnold secured a narrow 1-0 win at Leicester City on Easter Sunday.

The substitute fired home after a goalmouth scramble that saw Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota both hit the woodwork first and the defeat for the hosts officially means they will be playing Championship football next season.

Liverpool now need just three more points to win the Premier League and could be champions as early as Wednesday night if Arsenal lose to Crystal Palace before the Reds entertain Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

"We did [find it tough], which I think you expect when you go to Leicester but you also have to give credit to Ruud van Nistelrooy, they tried to play in the best possible way and tried to create," Slot said.

"It is the first time since I am here that we missed so many big chances, normally we are better in scoring one.

We have trained a lot, have a lot of meetings, try to improve the details and it is normal for a coaching staff that is nine or 10 months with a team, that it doesn’t come from the first.

"If I see a team with set-pieces perfect, I know a manager is there for a long time and I think Arsenal is a great example.

Mikel has worked for so long and they are world class at set-pieces.

Slot added: "I don’t think we had to press that much because the goalkeeper kicked the ball long but the way we press, the one near the ball has to press.

It is quite difficult for us to get rhythm and momentum because every time they get a free kick they take a minute and a half."
