Arne Slot has called upon Liverpool fans to “dream” as the Reds move closer to the Premier League title.

Liverpool looks to have one hand on the trophy after a perfect weekend saw it move 11 points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table.

The Reds will be aiming to strengthen their position today as they take on Newcastle at Anfield in a dress rehearsal for next month’s Carabao Cup final.

With Arsenal also playing later at Nottingham Forest, there is the potential for Liverpool to even extend its lead to 14 points, which would surely put the title out of the Gunners' reach.

The Liverpool boss though has no problem with supporters inside Anfield letting their minds wander to the title - in fact, he's actively encouraging it.

Writing in his matchday programme notes, Slot said: “Outside of the club there will be a lot of focus on the league table and what different results could mean but this is not our world.

Our focus is solely on doing the work and maintaining the focus that we know is an absolute necessity to give us the best possible chance of winning our next game.

“I know there will be those who believe this is something that we just say but I can assure them it is not.

The reality is that in a league as competitive as this one, looking beyond the next opponent or getting drawn into possibilities can only be a distraction.
