And now it looks as though Arsenal are set to bolster their ranks further with the addition of Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino.
And should they opt to bring Merino to the Emirates, it will likely mean the Gunners will not be making a move for France international Adrien Rabiot, who has officially left Juventus after five seasons.
While Rabiot was out of contract at the end of last season, it had been thought he and Juventus would be able to negotiate a new deal for the Frenchman to remain in Turin.
However, the 29-year-old, who has been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United in recent years, has now confirmed he is leaving the Old Lady.

Sane has one year left on his contract and could be prepared to leave Bayern this summer, having spent the last four years at the Allianz Arena.
