Liverpool and Arsenal both have Champions League matches to take care of midweek before attention can turn to the weekend's Premier League clash at the Emirates, but each will be looking for injury clues after the likes of Bukayo Saka and Diogo Jota picked up issues in recent appearances.

While Arne Slot is likely to offer an update on Jota later today, Saka was missing from the Arsenal open training session that took place on Monday ahead of the Gunners hosting Shakhtar Donetsk.

That would suggest that he is likely to miss the midweek game with the hamstring issue he picked up while playing for England, with the countdown until the weekend very much on.

Jurrien Timber was not spotted in the open training session either even though he is close to a return to action after his latest setback, while Martin Odegaard is still sidelined.

The Norwegian hasn't played a minute since the end of August as he recovers from a more long-term injury.

Elsewhere, William Saliba's red card means he will be suspended against Liverpool.

He was sent off for hauling down Evanilson as Bournemouth played Arsenal last weekend on the south coast.

"I leave that more to the club to understand the circumstances," Arteta said during his press conference when he was asked if Arsenal would appeal Saliba's sending off.

"They will have to decide it."

Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney are also both missing at the moment.

As well as Jota, Liverpool is currently without Alisson Becker and Harvey Elliott.

Liverpool.com says: If Arsenal is without Saliba, Odegaard and Saka for Sunday's game then Liverpool will really need to make the most of that.
