Mikel Merino scored twice late on to land Arsenal all three pointsLEICESTER CITY 0-2 ARSENAL: Mikel Merino came off the bench to score twice for the Gunners as the Spaniard produced two quality finishes to see off the Foxes and close the gap at the top of the Premier League
Arsenal returned to the capital with all three points as Mikel Merino's late brace saw off a spirited Leicester City side.
In a game bereft of quality it was the club's summer signing who came up with the crucial moment as he headed home from close range, owing to a moment of quality from Ethan Nwaneri.
Nwaneri twice came close to breaking the deadlock, hitting the post with a thunderous effort, whilst the Foxes continued to offer a threat without having much of a final ball in a game that looked as if it would meander towards a goalless draw.
But with ten minutes remaining the Arsenal substitute came up with one of the season's biggest moments as the Spaniard, not for first time, came up with a crucial headed goal.
Come half-time Arsenal were threatening to let two points pass them by with their game at Leicester goalless.
Merino will soon earn himself a reputation for producing crucial winning goals with his head.
